Robin Sprong Wallpaper – Marly Hotel

The Marly Hotel is an 11-suite, five-star boutique hotel in Camps Bay, Cape Town.  The hotel takes its names from the Chateau de Marly, built in the 17th Century in France for the leisure activities of Louis XIV and his family.

The creators of the Marly wanted to reproduce French paneling similar to that of the designs used in the original Chateau de Marly. The design chosen was taken from a print and digitised by the team at Robin Sprong Wallpaper and Surface Design. It was then reproduced on a durable wallpaper and used to transform the walls of the passageways and reception area of the hotel, from blank walls to 17th Century panelled chateau.

Robin Sprong  were also asked to produce images using the design of the black ink in water. The digital prints were attached to glass, framed and placed in many of the suites in the hotel. The finished prints are sophisticated, light and delicate, providing the Marly rooms with an air of absolute exclusivity.

This project was produced in collaboration with Soda Creations. Images are courtesy of Soda Creations.
