Robin Sprong – Le Roi Beach Bar.

If Cape Town was a monarchy, its kings and queens would surely idle their evenings away at the Le Roi Beach Bar in Camps Bay. Le Roi opened in early November 2013 in the centre of one the Cape’s most famed seaside strips, Camps Bay. The loft-style restaurant – with its name meaning ‘The King’ in French – is a plush yet easygoing oceanfront palace.

Co-owner Dale Parker wanted to create a spot where one could be treated with food, music and visuals. The latter being where Robin Sprong Wallpaper and Surface Design came in.

We provided Le Roi with large scale prints of Tretchikoff’s vivid artworks as a focus point for the restaurant. The founders chose Tretchikoff primarily because of his connection to Cape Town, and because of RSW, a large scale version of one of his artworks, the famous Lady from Orient now adorns one wall. Elements, like the marble bar and silvery gold seating, meld the piece in with the rest of the restaurants retro features, such as reclaimed timber pillars and low industrial ceiling beams.
